Tulum was built between 900AD and 1200AD and was still occupied when the Spaniards arrived in the early 1500s. Tulum is enclosed by a wall that stands 15ft high and 20ft wide and is nearly 1,270ft long with 5 gateways and 2 watch towers on the eastern corners.
